An ornament Christmas card...that I forgot to post!

DSC_3710DSC_3711DSC_3712

Happy Friend, Friends! :-) I hope you're having a great day! I'm trying to sort through photos on my computer today and put them in the correct photos and I came across some that I never posted! LOL!! I have a few more that I didn't post either...so I'll post those tomorrow. I made this little pocket on the front and put an ornament in it! :) Then I wrote our message and greeting on the back of the red cardstock. :) I was happy with the way it turned out. Hopefully the people who received these love them.

Well, I have to run... I hope you have a great day!

Christmas Photos & What Santa brought me this year!

Howdy Friends! I hope that everyone had a WONDERFUL Christmas!!  Ours was great... filled with tons of family! :-) I couldn't ask for more... I put together a little video of some of the photos from our Christmas 2008!

ipod1 ipod2

So, what did Santa bring you this year?! Anything fun and exciting?! My big gifts included... an  iPod Touch (Woohoo), Microwave (Woohoo), New Winter Coat (Woohoo), Tons of Stamps, and Money!!! :o) It's great!!! But... more than gifts it was so nice to spend time with my family!!! If you remember... last year we spent Christmas in the ER getting stitches in Stephen's leg from where he put a knife into his leg... on accident! You can read last years post about it here: http://www.ashleyscreativecorner.com/2007/12/our-christmas-spent-in-er.html

So, this was a great Christmas compared!! LOL!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!! Tuesdays Color Challenge & Handmade Christmas Gift Tags

CC198 Holiday Tag

Howdy Friends! The project above is for yesterday's color challenge! I've been trying to finish up all of my gift tags today... SO... I thought why not use these colors to make a girly tag! LOL!!! This tag measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". I applied the cardstock to the willow white cs from THS first... then I took 2 sided tape and then added glitter to it! Added a box... stamped the sentiment and that was it! Easy and very girly!! :)

I also wanted to share with you a few more photos of gift tags I made. I didn't take pictures of all of them... or the pictures would take up the entire website. LOL!! I made smaller versions of these to go on our chocolate covered pretzel baggies & bags full of homemade chex mix. :)

We always go to my parents on Christmas Eve...and open presents at 12:01AM... it's a family tradition. So, we will be heading that way around 5pm today. It should be wonderful to spend a little quality time with my parents, sister, and nana. Then on to the Big Christmas events! We always have my big family get together Christmas day... and then directly after that we head to Stephen's family get together! It's always a busy, busy, busy day!!!

I hope you have a great day & Merry Christmas Eve!

Hugs,

Ashley

Reflecting on how fast your life changes from year to year...

I just wanted to share with you that I sit down at the end of every year and reflect on how much my life has changed from the year before... I think it's even more substantial this year for me than any other year. I just thought I'd share the changes. I'd love to see your lists too... if you're willing to share!

:D

2007:

  • Married to Stephen
  • Living in Charlestown, IN
  • Working at XanEdu Full Time
  • Going to school at IUS for Secondary Education, Science
  • Took No Vacations
  • Treehouse Stamps didn't exist

2008:

  • Married to Stephen
  • Living in Charlestown, IN
  • Quit my job in July to go back to school full time & work on my business
  • Going to school at IUS, but am really thinking about changing my major to Nursing
  • Went to Cancun, Mexico
  • Took a Girls Road Trip
  • Went on a cabin getaway to Tennessee
  • Treehouse Stamps Exists & is Growing! :)
  • Felt the greatest joy in my life & yet the greatest loss of my life in the end with my first pregnancy.

A ton has changed in my life over the past year... 2008 was a great year for me until the miscarriage. I'm not going to say it was a bad year, because it could have been much worse. I'm thankful for the good times & try to find peace with the bad. I'm praying for comfort and that 2009 will bring us more joy than sorrow. I wish that for everyone! Share your list if you feel like it!

There are dimensionals behind the middle piece and then one behind all of the circles!! :o) The stamps are from Treehouse Stamps "simply organic" stamp set. Handmade Christmas Treats: Reindeer Poop and today's color challenge

reindeer poop1Happy Tuesday, Friends! :) I hope you're having a great day. I just wanted to share a little handmade candy idea that I had. Chocolate covered peanuts as... reindeer poop!! :)  I thought this reindeer would be perfect for this project. The reindeer comes from Treehouse Stamps "snowball fight" stamp set. I used copic markers to color in the reindeer poop2image.  I used a tin that is offered at Treehouse Stamps now. You can find these nugget tins HERE.

The tag reads, "I woke up with such a scare when I heard Santa call... "now dash away, dash away, dash away all! I ran to the lawn and in the snowy white drifts, those nasty reindeer had left "little gifts." I got an old shovel and started to scoop neat little piles of "reindeer poop." but to throw them away, seemed such a waste, so I saved them, reindeer poop3thinking~ you might like a taste! as I finished my task, which took quite awhile, old Santa passed by and he sheepishly smiled. and I heard him exclaim as he rose in the sky "well, they're not potty trained, but at least they can fly!"

Here is my card for today's color challenge. :) I've been working on Christmas cards all night and decided to make this card one too. This is using the same format as some of my Christmas cards, but different colors...of course. :) I used Kraft, pirouette pink, and white on my Christmas cards.

I used the large snowflake from Stampin' Up's Snowflake Spot stamp set. Probably my all time favorite! The sentiment comes from Treehouse Stamps "Christmas favorites" stamp set. www. TreehouseStamps.com. There are dimensionals behind the sentiment and then behind the large white square. :) The card measures 4.25" x 4.25".

Have a great day!

Hugs,

Ashley

OMGosh, now I loved today's TLC challenge! How cool are these little vellum votive candle covers?! I loved how it came out. I fell in love with the candle cover that Faith Hofrichter made and just had to do a simple pink one kind of like it! :) I love how it turned out and it is now in our bathroom to decorate for the holidays! :) shade1

Then I added heat and stick powder to the bottom and Vanilla Ice Cream Chunky Glitter from Treehouse Stamps. :) The trees are from Treehouse Stamps "jolly snowman" stamp set and shade3the snowflakes are from Treehouse Stamps "Christmas favorites" stamp set. :)

LOL!  Tonight I decided to sit down and make a few more Christmas ornaments. I made some of these last year too, but none for our own tree. So, this one is for us. I hope to make 5-6 more for little gifts in the next week.Ornament bottom 1

Our Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree1  christmas tree 3 christmas tree 2 Winston and Daddy

Howdy! I just wanted to share a few photos I took tonight after I finished off the tree completely! :) It's been up since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but I just got ALL the decorations on it. LOL! :)

Now... our tree the past 7 years has always been white lights with blue and silver decorations. It was always BEAUTIFUL!!   After all that we've been through this year... I decided I needed & wanted a change. LOL! So, I bought a NEW tree with NO pre-lit lights on it. I decided to go with colored lights this year. I'm so glad I did... what a nice change. Isn't it amazing that it really is the little things that help our hearts sometimes. I've bought every angel ornament that I've came across this year. My favorite is probably my Willow Tree Angel Prayer Angel. :)

I also had to take a picture of Stephen & Winston sitting on the couch all cuddled up enjoying the finished tree! :)

Well, I'm off to make some apple cider and snuggle with Stephen myself. :) Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hugs,

Ashley

Tutorial: Handmade Candy Cane Cover

 you need

YOU NEED:

  • Candy Cane
  • Cardstock (2"x3"...mine is kiwi kiss)
  • white cardstock and scrap cardstock to punch your scallop out with.
  • 1 3/8" circle punch
  • scallop punch
  • slit punch
  • corner rounding punch
  • glue (glue dots)
  • coloring tools (mine: copic markers)
  • ink
  • stamps (mine  is from Treehouse Stamps "Jolly Snowman" stamp set)

........................................................................................

punching and rounding

  • Start by rounding the corners of your 2"x3' piece of cardstock.
  • Then take your slit punch and make 2 punches on the 2"x3" piece of cardstock. It doesn't matter where you put them. Just remember that the closer to the edge you are... the less bowed your cardstock will be on the candy cane.

Putting candy cane in Candy Cane in tag

  • Feed your candy cane through both of the slit punches that you made. The right picture shows you what it should look like when you are finished. :)

stamp and punch

  • Stamp your image on white cardstock.
  • Then use your 1 3/8" circle punch to cut it out.
  • Color your image.
  • Mount the circle punch up onto your scallop punch.

full finished

Close Up1

  • Use a Glue Dot to attach your scallop to your kiwi kiss cardstock.
  • And... that's it!! :) Super Easy and Fun! Great way to spread some holiday cheer around the neighborhood, church, or even at work!

Happy Holidays!

Hugs,

Ashley

Warm Winter Wishes from Me to You!

Warm Wishes with Reindeer 1

Warm Winter Wishes, Friends! :) I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend thus far.  I'm still feeling under the weather, but I thought a little stamping could only help. LOL!!! :)

I brought out my acrylic stamps today! This adorable reindeer and hot chocolate mug were Treehouse Stamps first stamps released Dec 2007! :) I remember sitting down to draw these and was just about beside myself to see them as stamps. LOL!! In one year... tons has changed. The biggest change for THS would be that we Warm Wishes with Reindeer 2switched from acrylic to red rubber. LOL! Well,  I still love these very first stamps. I used copic markers to color in my images. The background paper is from Cosmo Cricket and is carried by Treehouse Stamps now. :) Also, the ribbon is from Treehouse Stamps too. I hope my little creation makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :) Oh, by the way... the snowball fight stamp set is 20% off  right now! So, check it out! :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Handmade Christmas To and From Tags...

DSC_3520Happy Saturday, Friends! I hope you're having a lovely weekend. I still have a low grade fever, but hopefully it will be all gone soon. My throat is still swollen, but if it isn't gone by Monday then I'll be seeing the doctor since strep throat is going around.

I decided to make our package tags this year.  I used the Snowman from Treehouse Stamps "winter memories" acrylic set and the hot chocolate mug from the "snowball fight" acrylic stamp set.  Both of the snowball fight and winter memories stamp sets are on sale for $15.00 right now! :)

Happy Friday, Friends!! :) I hope everyone is having a GREAT Friday so far. I just wanted to share a little project with you that I made last night. I'm using Tall Tea Tin 6" with Standard Lid that Treehouse Stamps offers as a homemade treats gift. :) The lid is extremely air tight... so your treats won't go stale anytime soon! :)

I stamped the sentiment "homemade treats make good eats" on white cardstock and cut out each work separately. Then I made a little tag using them and attached them to my chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon using some gold stretchy string. Then I used stamped my gingerbread man and colored him using my copic markers. I then used my 1 3/8" punch and my scallop punch to finish off the project. :) All stamps used in this project come from Treehouse Stamps "Sweets for the Sweet" stamp set! :) SAVE 20% on the Sweets for yhst-38690603869424_2031_52529117the Sweet Stamp Set TODAY!

I'm sorry...but I'm sick!

Hi Friends! I'm sorry I didn't post any projects today. I've been feeling a little strange for a few days. Then last night the headache & backache hit me. Then after a nap... the sore throat! I've taken tons of vitamin C and it seems to have helped my sore throat for now, but I'm running a fever too. I really try not to get sick, but I guess it happens to the best of us. I hope to wake up tomorrow and feel all better!!! :o)

Have a nice night!
